Separation Processes

Before joining the department, Dr. May was Senior Science Adviser at Exxon Research Engineering Company. His research at Exxon covered many topics, mainly in the area of process development, coal gasification, properties of fluid beds, high-energy propellants, safety of transporting liquified natural gas, separation in gas centrifuges, and separation in various staged processes.

Dr. May has served on a number of committees of the Natural Research Council, advisory to the Army and the Department of Energy: Committee on Review and Evaluation of the Army Chemical Stockpile Disposal Program; Committee to Evaluate Alternative Technologies for Chemical Weapons Disposal; and Committee on Decontaminating and Decommissioning the Uranium Enrichment Facilities.
